Cost of Living
2.9% cash back each year on rates paid/received on time across the next two FYs.
All rates due to council and paid/received by or before the due date will be eligible for a 2.9% refund at the end of each over the next two financial years. We offer this because, in a cost-of-living crisis, the council should be working to improve the lives of its ratepayers, not itself.

Infrastructure
Build and maintain better roads and footpaths, not just at election time.
Road conditions, road safety infrastructure, traffic congestion, footpaths, and bridges all need more attention, with the council needing to get back to its core role and provide more attention to this important portfolio area.

Governance
Greater financial accountability and better use of ratepayer’s money.
Donations and freebies for non-core functions need to pass the ‘pub test’ as to what the majority of rate payers would believe is value for their money. We will apply that test to all financial commitments of the council.

Local Business Support
50% reduction in fees and charges for new businesses setting up in QPRC’s CBD areas.
Attracting more businesses to the area provides ratepayers with more choice and offers competition, which in turn promotes better products, prices, and services. There are too many shops vacant all over Queanbeyan Palerang. We aim to fix that.

Service Delivery
Slash Development Applications times and fix/improve services.
Simple Development Applications for building a home, household, and yard improvements have blown out to unacceptable levels. Responses to reporting maintenance issues to council have also fallen behind. This needs to be addressed and fast.
